Description:

One of the most important events in the jazz calendar not only in Poland, but also in this part of Europe. A special feature of this event, organised by the National Forum of Music, are premiere concerts - projects and compositions created especially for the festival by the greatest artists of contemporary improvisation. Under artistic direction of Piotr Turkiewicz.

The National Forum of Music is the City of Wrocław institution of culture, co-governed by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage, the Community of Wrocław and the Lower Silesian Province. The National Forum of Music operates the state-of-the-art multifunctional concert venue of the same name located in the historic centre of Wrocław.

This performing arts organization was established on 22 May 2014 through merging the International Festival Wratislavia Cantans and the Wrocław Philharmonic. Andrzej Kosendiak, director of the NFM, has been one of the proponents and authors the new performing arts organization and the new venue.

The National Forum of Music organizes the activities of 11 instrumental and vocal ensembles: NFM Symphony Orchestra, NFM Leopoldinum Chamber Orchestra, Wrocław Baroque Orchestra, NFM Choir, Polish National Youth Choir, NFM Boys’ Choir, Lutosławski Quartet, LutosAir Quintet, NFM Ensemble, Polish Cello Quartet, and NFM Leopoldinum String Trio.  The National Forum of Music has created new and vast opportunities for Wrocław cultural life, giving rise to attractive festivals. At present the NFM coordinates 9 international festivals: International Festival Wratislavia Cantans, Jazztopad, Musica Polonica Nova, Musica Electronica Nova, Forum Musicum, Leo Festival, Academy of Early Music, International Festival of Viennese Music, and Singing Europe.

The NFM gives special importance to educational projects for children and young people (a.o. The NFM is the publisher of Muzyka w Mieście monthly. Its ensembles participate in recordings and tour internationally.
