20th Istanbul Jazz Festival

The Istanbul Jazz Festival will meet the audience for the 20th time on Tuesday, 2 July! Starting with the Alicia Keys concert the festival will host the prominent names of the jazz at 12 impressive venues at its first week.

The 20th Istanbul Jazz Festival will welcome the world-renowned voice of R&B and soul music, Alicia Keys. The 14-time Grammy-winner, singer, composer and song writer will be performing for the first time in Turkey on Tuesday, 2 July at 21.30 at Parkorman.

At the second night of the festival, Wednesday, 3 July, the festival will spread throughout the city with two glamorous concerts. On the one hand, one of the finest of today's jazz vocalists,Dee Dee Bridgewater meets with master jazz pianist and composer Ramsey Lewis to fill hearts with the soul of jazz at 21.00 at the Imperial Garden of Yıldız Palace; on the other hand, one of the premiere pianists in Cuba Ernán López-Nussa, drummer Ruy Lòpez-Nussaand his sons, pianist and composer Harold Lopez-Nussa, Ruy Lopez-Nussa, and Felipe Cabrera will be on the stage at 22.00 at Feriye Restaurant, Ortaköy.

On Thursday, 4 July, two marvellous summertime concerts will await the festival audience. The next superstar of British jazz, singer, pianist and songwriter Anthony Strong will play his optimistic tunes and lively vibes for Istanbulites at 21.00 at the one of the new venues of the festival, Consulate General of Austria, Austrian Cultural Office Garden. At the second concert of the night, piano meets trumpet. Jazz pianist Uraz Kıvaner and his quintet will share the stage with trumpeter Marco Tamburini at 22.30 at Salon İKSV.

Melody Gardot's crystalline and magical voice will make her Istanbulite fans forget time and space on Friday, 5 July at 21.00 at the Embassy of Germany Tarabya Summer Residance.

Having presented a festival within the festival for the last three years, the Tünel Feast will be organised this year as "Tünel Concerts" on Saturday, 6 July between 18.00-24.00 at different venues in the Tünel, Şişhane and Galata area of the city such as Alt, Garden of the Consulate General of the Netherlands, Indigo, Italian Cultural Center, Nardis Jazz Club, Salon İKSV, Tünel KaVe. Among the guests of the concerts are Matthias Eick, Roos Jonker, Bruut!,Salvatore Bonafede Trio, Tin Men and The Telephone, Maffy Falay Quintet, Dilek Sert Erdoğan and TBC Brass Band among others. This year the Istanbul Jazz Festivalcollaborates with USA, Netherlands, Italy and Norway around the theme of cultural dialogue for the Tünel concerts such as TBC Brass Band, Roos Jonker,  Bruut!, Tin Men and The Telephone, Salvatore Bonafade and Matthias Eick.

The Istanbul Jazz Festival, organised by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (İKSV) and sponsored for the past 16 years by Garanti Bank, will be held between 2 and 18 July.
