21. Keltika 2016 / international festival
We will sum up yet another successful music year with three concerts at the Keltika festival. The concerts will be quite different genre-wise, even though the first two definitely belong in jazz, but will probably satisfy listeners of different jazz approaches. First, we will listen a puzzle-like combination of classical music with old and new jazz, played by the New York pianist Anthony Coleman (Saturday, October 8, Music School), known for his long-standing collaboration with the leading names of the new jazz and improvisation, such as John Zorn and Marc Ribot. We will follow this more intimate and introverted jazz with the concert of the powerful international quartet Made to Break (Sunday, October 30, at Gabrijel), comprised of renowned musicians: Ken Vandermark, Christof Kurzmann, Jasper Stadhouders and Tim Daisy. This American-Austrian-Dutch connection plays contemporary jazz with plenty of experimental inputs from noise through alter-rock to electronics. The final chapter of this year Keltika concerts will belong to the Austrian band Hella Comet, which plays am extremely likeable blend of noise, melodic post-punk and pop (Saturday, November 26). Free entrance to all the concerts!
