12 Points

12 Points, the dynamic festival of young European jazz, is on the hunt for 12 of the best and brightest young acts to take part in the 11th edition of this award-winning festival next July in Aarhus, Denmark, in association with the Aarhus Jazz Festival and JazzDanmark, as part of the 2017 Aarhus European Capital of Culture.

“The freshest, hottest sounds in jazz and contemporary experimental music.” - The Irish Times

Winner of the inaugural award for ‘Adventurous Programming’ from Europe Jazz Network (EJN) in 2012, 12 Points is uniquely curious in its approach to uncovering the hottest new sounds in jazz from all corners of Europe.
The festival is now searching for 12 acts from 12 different European countries for the 2017 festival. Almost 600 young musicians have performed at 12 Points since 2007, the festival seen as a ‘mezzanine’ for promising acts on their way to the next level in their careers.
“One of the best experiences an artist can have on a festival.”  - Lander Gyselinck (2015 artist)

Produced and programmed by Dublin based Improvised Music Company, 12 Points festival is uniquely nomadic - alternating between Dublin and other vibrant young European cities on alternate years. Recent ‘away’ editions include the 2016 edition in San Sebastián, Spain the 2014 festival in Umeå, Sweden and 2012 in Porto, Portugal.

Over the last 10 years, 12 Points has become an important platform for emerging European jazz talent, and a fantastic resource for some of Europe’s top jazz festival bookers and music media to find exciting new talent;
“Events like this make the difference for the bands and musicians, and are an important source for programmers and other professionals.”  - Frank Bolder, North Sea Jazz Festival

As the Delegate programme has grown in recent years, so too has the daytime conference element ‘Jazz Futures’ with two days of expertly curated discussions led high-profile promoters, venue managers, educators and artists, making invaluable connections for both artist and industry professional
