Sharp-suited, sharp-edged but accessible contemporary jazz to kick-off the New Year! Formed in 2007 Empirical has gained a consistent and impressive array of awards for its unique brand of contemporary leading edge jazz. The band majors on original works with each member taking equal responsibility for the direction of the music in both composition and improvisation. Their debut album 'Empirical' won both the Jazzwise and Mojo 'Album of the Year' awards in 2007. 'Out n In' helped gain them 'Best Ensemble' in the Parliamentary Jazz Awards 2009 and 'Best Jazz Act' in the 2010 MOBO's. The Third album 'Elements of Truth' was released to great acclaim in 2012.
