JazzDanmark and Copenhagen Jazz Festival adresses gender imbalances in jazz

JazzCamp for Girls adresses the gender imbalance in jazz by encouraging girls aged 10-15 years to improvise and to play a rhythmic instrument. The project runs for one week in February 2019 simultaneously in 16 cities around Denmark. The project is created by Copenhagen Jazz Festival and JazzDanmark and has taken place at music schools throughout Denmark since 2014. This year, Jazz North was inspired by the project, thus 5 JazzCamps for Girls will take place in the Northern part of England.
