Maijazz

Mai:jazz is Stavanger's oldest festival and one of Norway's leading jazz festivals. Mai:jazz was established in 1989 and hence organizes its 31th festival in 2019. Ever since the beginning, the festival has built itself into an important festival and cultural event characterized by quality and diversity in its events with an increasing audience. Mai:jazz aims to present both new and existing national and international quality projects.

In addition to present many international headliners the festival has contributed to the exciting development of the local jazz environment in Stavanger. At the festival, jazz education at the University of Stavanger is gaining increasing popularity, and Stavanger practitioners are becoming increasingly popular locally, nationally and internationally. The festival is also focusing on offering concerts and educational offers for children and young people.
