Hosting the most prominent rock groups of Turkey, maNga will be İş Sanat’s guest of this month is. Named after the traditional Japanese cartoon art, MaNga comprises Yağmur Sarıgül (guitar), Özgür Can Öney (drums), Efe Yılmaz (turntable),Ferman Akgül (vocal) and Cem Bahtiyar (bass). Comprising five different characters, five different music styles and five different world views, the group released their debut album named after the band on December 14th, 2004 under Sony Music Turkey and GRGDN label. Selling more than 180.000 copies, maNga earned a Gold Record award for their album which was also released in Japan. Travelling through different cultures and meeting many different people, more than 4 years after their debut album, maNga got into a new time period catching a smoother, more characteristic, warmer and more melancholic sound. With the band members’ growth and changing world views, the variety of music they listened to has changed as well. This change was reflected on MaNga’s sound, and their second album Şehr-i Hüzün which was released on April 15th, 2009 under GRGDN & Sony Music. The group has won “Best European Act” award at the 2009 MTV Europe Music Awards and in the same year maNga has won numerous awards including best video, best band, best song, best album and best performance. maNga competed in the 55th Eurovision Song Contest held in Oslo in May, 2010 and finished the contest at 2nd places with “We Could Be The Same”. After the Eurovision, the group started taking over Europe and played in the “Vitebsk Slavianski Bazaar” festival of arts in Belarus, gave a live TV to a couple of thousand fans in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina and played in Belgrade for their Serbian fans. On July 2010, maNga gave a wonderful concert in Copenhagen, Denmark and the second single, "Fly to Stay Alive" was released digitally in Denmark under Sony Music Denmark.
