A fantastic improvisor has challenged herself to compose, and in her exciting new trio the sparks fly! The energetic saxophone player Mette Rasmussen is best known for strong improvised concerts, mainly solo, but also in smaller groups.
The self-imposed challenge of composing has resulted in a concert called “Time Travels Through Us”. Now she has to a greater extent prepared and worked through her ideas in advance, utilizing her unique voice and sound as an electrifying toolbox.
In November, Rasmussen will take the concert on the road with a tour around Europe with Mette Rasmussen Trio North. Together with the brilliant musicians who form the trio, we can promise you a very special concert. With only a light sprinkling of electronic effects, Rasmussen is at her most capturing in this setting, doing brilliant work on top of Håker Flaten’s groovy bass lines and Corsano’s mesmerizing beats.
In Mette’s own words: “Looking tremendously forward taking this trio on tour. This is a special project of mine, I have been on the road for many years, but this is the first time diving into composing for a group of my own. Going from the premiere at Victoria in Oslo till touring this summer with the band in Portugal, it feels really good to be touring 10 days straight with the music, bringing new tunes as well. Really looking forward to play at all the incredible stages, venues, and festivals on the tour, starting off at the Berlin Jazzfestival. Happy to have long time collaborate Chris Corsano filling in on drums, and bandmate Ingebrigt Håker Flaten on bass!”
