More then 1300 concerts at Copenhagen Jazz Festival 2017!

The collected line-up and schedule for Copenhagen Jazz Festival 2017 – totaling more than 1300 concerts – and this year’s art poster was revealed earlier today, Thursday June 8.

Next year’s Copenhagen Jazz Festival marks the festival’s 40th anniversary where celebrations are definitely in order, but we’re already turning the artistic ambitions up a notch starting at Copenhagen Jazz Festival 2017. Artists such as Herbie Hancock, Norah Jones and Jamie Cullum are sold out already, yet the international alternatives are almost queuing up: Eliane Elias, Jan Garbarek, Anoushka Shankar, Oumou Sangaré, Bill Frisell, Omer Avital, Saxophone Summit, Erykah Badu, Palle Mikkelborg, Youn Sun Nah, Mark Guiliana, Woody Allen and His New Orleans Jazz Band, Roberto Fonseca – and the list goes on.

The concert themes for Copenhagen Jazz Festival 2017 are Jazz by the Sea, 21st Century Jazz, The Sound of New Orleans and Jazz Remixed. 2017 also sees a return of the themes Something Else in Brorsons Kirke, Wild at Heart in Literaturhaus and five days of Jazz for Kids at Frederiksberg. Song X is a brand new theme, focusing on experimental songwriters performing in Christianshavn Beboerhus. Copenhagen Jazz Festival 2017 also marks 150 years of diplomatic connections between Japan and Denmark with a selection of concerts called Tokyo-Copenhagen.

Today’s announcement includes the full line-up at Wild at Heart, at Song X and at the festival’s two remaining venues/scenes with free admittance. The last additions to our selected festival highlights are Lee Konitz, Matana Roberts, Ambrose Akinmusire and TRI4TH.
