in conversation: Oddrun Lilja and Bugge Wesseltoft // cd launch: This is Our Music - Jazzcd.no 9th set // concert: LILJA

In these strange days we’re living through now, there are still a few things around to make us feel relaxed and happy and fulfilled. Jazz music is such a thing. And there’s so much of it! Although we can’t meet up in person this year, there are still opportunities for the worldwide jazz community to stay together, and on International Jazz Day we can all meet through our screens.

On stage from the famous venue Nasjonal Jazzscene Victoria in Oslo, we are proud to present a live streamed gig from Jazzland recording artist Oddrun Lilja Jonsdottir and her band LILJA, soon to release their debut album Marble. The guitarist, composer and improviser has found inspiration from her travels around the world, and her meetings with musicians from different parts of the world has informed the full bodied and open minded music, where every song pays tribute to a city.

Before the show we will meet Oddrun Lilja in conversation with music journalist Audun Vinger from Norwegian magazine Jazznytt, about her ideas for music as a way of getting the world more tightly knit. The musician and Jazzland veteran Bugge Wesseltoft will also join the conversation.

«There will also be a presentation of the new promotional CD of outstanding Norwegian jazz that Norsk jazzforum were supposed to launch at Jazzahead! this month, that you hopefully can get your hands on some other time soon. If you want a copy sent by mail you can send an email to norsk (AT) jazzforum.no, and meanwhile enjoy the music digitally on this Spotify-playlist.”
