Sage Gateshead event highlights - fall 2016

Tusk Festival, Friday 14 to Sunday 16 October 
TUSK Festival brings its ambitious and uniquely diverse 3-day programme of genre-defying out-there and experimental international music to the North East of England. Now as part of a new partnership with Sage Gateshead, TUSK has a new home on the south bank of the River Tyne. The TUSK approach is as unwavering as ever, with a truly eclectic and international music menu and TUSK’s trademark slew of UK debuts plus its renowned film programme, exhibitions, talks, installations, interactions, workshops and more.

Artists include the sublime Japanese chamber pop of EIKOISHIBASHI, Los Angeles techno producer Juan Mendez aka SILENTSERVANT,  FOVEAHEX, Leeds duo GUTTERSNIPE, US underground legend EDDYDETROIT and Argentina’s LOSSIQUICOS LITORALEÑOS.

The Cookers, Monday 14 November

The Cookers released Time and Time Again last year, the follow up to their three critically-acclaimed recordings, Warriors,Cast The First Stone and Believe. Their fourth album was named iTunes’ Jazz Album of the Year 2014. Sage Gateshead are excited to bring them back after their first appearance at Gateshead International Jazz Festival in 2015.

Robert Glasper, Thursday 17 November
Grammy Award winning jazz pianist and record producer Robert Glasper returns to Sage Gateshead following his stand out show at Gateshead International Jazz Festival 2014. Expect him to continue to stake out new musical territory, drawing on jazz, hip hop, R&B and rock, and refusing to be defined by any one genre.
