Europe Jazz Network is very pleased to announce the selection of the six projects to be presented during the Portuguese Jazz Showcase, running on 14 and 15 September 2018 in the framework of the European Jazz Conference in Lisbon at the Centro Cultural de Belém (CCB). The open call for Portuguese projects was launched at the end of January 2018 by EJN together with Associação Sons da Lusofonia, co-organiser of the European Jazz Conference 2018. The selected projects are:
Friday 14 September:
- Susana Santos Silva's IMPERMANENCE
- Bode Wilson Trio
- Axes
Saturday 15 September:
- Pedro Melo Alves' Omniae Ensemble
- Quarteto Beatriz Nunes
- TGB
The overall quality of the 88 applications assessed was very high, showing the maturity, richness and diversity of the Portuguese jazz scene. The selection was made by the EJN Programme Committee of the European Jazz Conference 2018, composed by: Ros Rigby (Sage Gateshead, UK), Enrico Bettinello (NovaraJazz, Italy), Kenneth Killeen (Improvised Music Company, Ireland), Jan Ole Otnӕs (Nasjonal Jazzscene-Victoria, Norway), Piotr Turkiewicz (National Forum of Music/Jazztopad Festival, Poland).
More concerts will be announced in the coming weeks, including the opening Gala Concert on Thursday 13 September, and a fringe programme of events in the evenings of the Conference days.
