From: Jazz Fest Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina)
To: San Sebastian Jazz Festival - Jazzaldia (Spain)
Dates: 18 - 25 July 2022

My staff exchange trip started on 18th of July and lasted till 26 th July. It was my first visit to San Sebastian and Jazzaldia.

As Jazz Fest Sarajevo takes place in November, when all festival programs are indoor, due the weather conditions, it's always quite an experience to visit a summer festival with outdoor stages, especially in a beautiful coastal town with a stage located on exceptional Zurriola Beach gathering thousands of spectators every night.  I met young and friendly festival staff, visited remarkable venues, attended some inspiring concerts and heard a lot of new music. Within the festival, the Spanish showcase Jazzene presented various local artists and it was a great opportunity for me to meet with different artists and to learn about new music projects. Also to meet music professionals and journalists that attended the Jazzaldia festival.  San Sebastian festival is executed by well organised staff and I was not helper but more an observer. That allowed me to get insight literary all areas of the festival from hospitality to production and learn about San Sebastian's way of doing of festival. I need to say – great one.

Although I'm not involved in artistic programming I have notice great programmation of the festival and which is always the best – I discovered a lot of new music. Participating in EJN Staff Exchange programme is a real privilege for us working behind the scene, to travel and meet collegues and always to learn some helpfull „tricks“.  Visit to Jazzaldia and San Sebastian within the Staff Exchange program was a valuable experience. I would like to express my gratitude to Europe Jazz Network, to my hosts in San Sebastian, the Staff Exchange Programme and administrators of the project for their support and cooperation.
