It was a valuable opportunity for me to think as well about how I envision my life, about the Israeli culture that I’m involved with, and the future of all society in the way of which we aspire to create in the world.
From: Synthesizer Program (Israel)
To: Bozcaada Jazz Festival (Turkey)
Dates: 05 - 14 September 2023

Traveling the long way back to Istanbul from Bozcaada, gives me the proper time to reflect and share some of the unique experiences that I just had with the exceptional people that hosted me as part of the Bozcaada Caz Festivali. The festival concluded two days ago, with a blast I might say, but even though it was amazing by itself and it's events, I’m also really grateful for having the time with the crew on the days leading up to and following the festival that with no doubt were a major part of the experience and left my heart with enormous amount of love and gratitude.

Over the course of three days, the festival rocked and electrified the jazz atmosphere by the seaside of Bozcaada Island during the nighttime. Meanwhile, the daytime was dedicated to the KEŞİF program which filled the minds and souls of the young audience that regularly seeks such experiences through the festival. With workshops, discussions, and activities covering community and social issues, culture, self-care, and the promotion of vital present and future initiatives in Turkey and beyond, next to front edge re-defining musical lineup, the events offered to approximately 2000 people per day were truly eye-opening and in tune with the demands of our rapidly changing, borderlined, crazy times. All during my time there it felt strongly as I’m witnessing an inspiring happening. One that lets you absorb some of Turkey’s most intriguing alternative vibes, ideas, and dreams. In addition to forming deep connections with the crew, more properly to be called a Tribe, as they are acting like one big unified family who leads this futuristic and groundbreaking reality making forward with their skills and nature.

It was a valuable opportunity for me to think as well about how I envision my life, about the Israeli culture that I’m involved with, and the future of all society in the way of which we aspire to create in the world. I could have said much more about these people, as I’m clearly still a bit high from the past couple of days spent with them. But there aren’t enough words in my vocabulary to really express the true souls that they are and how they made me feel so at home, or at least home as how I would imagine a utopian community to be.

I want to really thank Europe Jazz Network and their exchange program, supported by Creative Europe, for making this connection possible. Most importantly, I want to thank the incredible people of Bozcaada Festival, KEŞİF, and 3dots - Cagil, Murat, Farhanaz, Gizem, Onur, Ece, Seb, Deniz, Bade, Tahir, Dilan, and all the other festival crew members who played a crucial role in making this all happen and for simply being such remarkable individuals who entered my life with love and embraced me so generouslly.
