This trio is involing one of the most creative & tremendous guitar player Ulf Wakenius, the truly phenomenal on the organ Leonardo Corradi and the first call drummer Tony Match. They decided to join all together and pay tribute to the most influent jazz guitar player: Wes Montgomery!
ULF WAKENIUS
GRAMMY NOMINATED ACT RECORDING ARTIST.
Born in April 16t, 1958 in Halmstad, Sweden. A jazz guitarist extraordinaire acclaimed and celebrated all over the world. Between 1997 and 2007 Ulf held what may have been the most prestigious spot in jazz for a guitarist: a chair in the Oscar Peterson Quartet.This was the coronation of a career which included many record-breaking moments.Wakenius guitar duo Guitars Unlimited rocked Scandinavia in the early 80s, culminating in the 1985 Melody Grand Prix, which was seen by 600 million viewers, probably the largest audience a jazz guitar duo ever had. Shortly after that Wakenius started a extremely successful and long-lasting collaboration with the legendary bass player Niels-Henning Örsted Pedersen.( NHOP), and both of his duo albums with bass icon Ray Brown, topped the US Jazz Charts.The last few years he's been touriing the world with the amazing Korean singer Youn Sun Nah.
Oscar Peterson has publicly described Ulf as one of the greatest guitarists alive in the world today and many of today’s most acclaimed jazz guitarists are among Ulf’s fans, including Pat Metheny, John McLaughlin, John Scofield and Mike Stern. Great Rhythmic feel combines with a extraordinary lyrical touch- his emphasis is always on melodies and groove. He has been filmed by Clint Eastwood. One of most talented European organ player and considered a italian rising star Leonardo Corradi has already shared the stage with Antonio Sanchez, Dave Liebman, Rick Margitza, Kurt Rosenwinckel, Fred Wesley, Pee Wee Ellis just to name a few. Voted best Hammond Player in 2010 by JAZZIT magazine (Italia), Leonardo Corradi met Jimmy Smith on stage seven years ago, just six month before his death. But it was impactful enough to make the choice to dedicate his life to the Organ. At 20 years old Leonardo Corradi recorded his first album with the great guitarist Peter Bernstein. He already toured Europe and played in majors club and festival with Fred Wesley and Tony Match. The new project with Ulf Wakenius comes only reinforce the promising talent and the musically brilliant moment that he enjoys now.
TONY MATCH
Tony Match is a French drummer, MD & Music Producer. For fifteen years he has worked with the cream of world-class jazz musicians, both as a music producer or musician and musical director. From Fred Wesley, Pee Wee Ellis, Paul Jackson the Headhunter, Richard Galliano to Rick Margitza, Tony is involved in many projects involving jazz, soul and funk icons such as Kurt Elling, Charlie Haden, Ernie Watts and Gonzalo Rubalcaba,Flavio Boltro. He performed with Randy Brecker,Lionel Loueke, composed with Flora Purim just to name a few...Tony Match has composed produced and mixed more than two hundred tracks on major & leading independent labels, including album for Deutsche Grammophon, Universal.
