Flagey

Description:

Flagey is located in the former radio and television building of Belgium, a beautiful Art Deco building from the 1930s with five halls, ranging from 70 to 860 seats. We focus on music and image, referring to the origins of the building. We are a non-profit organization with a state allowance of up to 55%.

In music, we mainly offer classical music, jazz, and global music, and we have different ensembles in residence, such as the Brussels Philharmonic and the Vlaams Radiokoor. Apart from hosting various music festivals and organizing the Brussels Jazz Festival and the Flagey Piano Days, we have music and jazz series running al year long. Being a former radio house grants us perfect acoustics in each hall. Recording, broadcasting, and releasing are important aspects of our operations. We also maintain a strong link with national radio, hosting their festivals (Klara Festival & Musiq3 Festival), and many of our concerts are broadcast on national radio.

Cinema is our second focus, where we offer a five-day-a-week program ni collaboration with the Belgium Royal Film Archive and Kinographe. We are part of an arthouse film network and program restored classics, documentaries, and contemporary cinema. We host the Anima Film Festival, the Brussels Short Film Festival, and the Millennium Film Festival.

On an educational level, we have initiated the Flagey Academy, which is a youth choir of around 1,000 students from 8 to 18 years old from all over Brussels.
