Charles McPherson Quartet
Charles McPherson started his musical biography in the best way possible: working with the eminent double bass player Charles Mingus from 1960 to 1972. He later toured worldwide, either as the front man or in collaboration with first-rate artists like Lionel Hampton, Wynton Marsalis, Dizzy Gillespie, Randy Brecker and many others. McPherson was Clint Eastwood’s jazz advisor when he filmed Bird, a magnificent biography about the jazz genius Charlie Parker. He was also given the job of playing Parker’s parts in the film. Today Charles McPherson is still one of the big names on the international jazz scene. And he’s coming with Bruce Barth, an extraordinary pianist and previous guest of ours at the Heineken Jazzaldia as the leader of his own groups.
