Diana Krall (piano, vocals), Robert Hurst (double bass), Karriem Riggins (drums).Special guest artist: Joe Lovano (sax)
Diana Krall is sublime both as a pianist and as a singer. Her stage elegance, her repertoire invariably selected with such fine taste and her irrefutable accomplishment have made hers an essential jazz name in the last two decades. She also has a gift for choosing her collaborators. This time round, she’s coming with Joe Lovanoas her guest artist, in other words, with one of the top saxophone players on the world jazz panorama, always brilliant at the front of his own groups and a luxurious companion when joining other figures, like in this case. Backed by Lovano, Diana Krall is expected to give an extraordinary concert, supported by her regulars, Robert Hurst (double bass) and Karriem Riggins (drums).
Houston Person (tenor sax), Ben Paterson (organ)
At the age of 84, Houston Person is one of the great veterans of the tenor sax, continuing that long line of sax players of striking and intense sound dating back to Gene Ammons. He successfully swept through the era of swing and later through hard bop, to finally become one of the major exponents of soul jazz. He has recorded 75 albums in his own name, as well as others recorded in collaboration with Don Ellis, Cedar Walton, Etta Jones, Lena Horne, Horace Silver and other magnificent performers.
