Joe Armon-Jones - verschoben

Joe Armon-Jones, keyboarder and co-founder of the Ezra Collective, visits Moods with his second album «Turn To Clear View», scheduled for release in September 2019 on Gilles Peterson’s label Brownswood Recording. His sound - a gripping style hybrid of Jazz, Funk, Dub and Hip-Hop – reminds us somewhat of the music of his famous US colleague, Kamasi Washington. The basis is a finely-woven rhythmical mesh, thanks to bubbling bass and laid-back drum-playing, which has its roots deep in the Jazz-Funk of the 1970’s. The cool nonchalance of the soundsetting, where Armon-Jones pulls the strings, is constantly interrupted by musical fireworks and emotional expression from the horns.
