Lucas Dorado is a young vibraphone player from Argentina who studied in Switzerland and in Berlin. With his new band Yacarandá he is exploring the rhythms and sounds of his latinamerican home country and creates an own musical "signature"while connecting the polyrhytmic structures from his cultural background with inspiring jazz harmonies. The vibraphone is an instrument which is not very common in Latin America.
Lucas Dorado is accompanied by
Maja Magedli (vocals), Sven Holscher (bass), Topo Gioia (percussion) David Riaño Molina (guitar) who form the band Yacarandá. This name derives from a tree which grows in tropical Latin America.
By presenting Lucas Dorado and "Yacarandá" as a group of young and ambitious jazz musicians, the initiative "Jazz am Helmholtzplatz" is starting with its new series of jazz concerts at the Theater unterm Dach.
