NIKOL BÓKOVÁ TRIO / Czech Republic
Nikol left the world of classical music for her own original work in 2017. Since then, she has recorded three studio albums and is an integral part of the jazz scene. Critics describe her music as elegant, deeply felt and dynamic. Her mainstay is the typical jazz piano-double-bass-drums trio, which is closest to her ear and heart. With each new album, however, he embarks on new, unexplored paths for himself.
Nikol Bóková is a musician dedicated to many musical genres. As a performer of classical music, her repertoire ranges from baroque to contemporary music, but she primarily focuses on the 19th and 20th century periods. At the same time, she is an extraordinary author of her own, unique music.
Her work draws on her training as a classical pianist and combines elements of jazz, classical music, pop music, modern rock and minimalism. In four years, she recorded four albums that met with great critical acclaim. She recorded her debut album INNER PLACE, which was nominated for the Czech Academy of Music Award, and her second album UNRAVEL with Michał Wierzgoń and Martin Kocián, leading jazz musicians of the young generation. The third album PROMETHEUS was released in May 2021, less than a year after the release of Unravel. For the recording of Prometheus, Nikol invited notable jazz musicians David Dorůžka and Jaromír Honzák and the world-renowned French horn player Radek Baborák. In March 2022, she recorded her fourth self-titled album as a quartet when she decided to expand her trio with David Dorůžka.
In addition to composition, Nikol devoted herself to a solo career as a pianist, regularly performing with leading Czech orchestras, performing solo recitals on Czech and European stages. She performed at festivals such as Viva Musica!, Hybatelé Rezonance, Janáček's May, JazzFestBrno, American Spring and Summartónar.
