Florida-born young trumpeter Theo Croker is one of a generation of musicians who, like Roy Hargrove, elegantly mix funk, hip-hop and jazz. Spotted early on by singer Dee Dee Bridgewater, this history lover questions his roots in his music borrowed from a great spirituality and a resolutely modern groove that draws as well from the great jazz tradition as from the sources of hip-hop.
