The Gothenburg Classic Jazz Society, (FCJG) with about 700 members, is a non-profit organisation that brings together musicians and people that love the melodic and exuberant jazz music that was originally played during the first half the 1900s. This music still leads an active life at various jazz society venues in Gothenburg – restaurant Kapellet, the steamboat S/S Marieholm, day trips to Denmark on bord Stena Danica, and (in the summertime) at restaurant Villa Belparc in the Slottsskogen park. At these venues, about 50 bands connected to the society take turns in entertaining the audience and bringing them to dance to swinging, classic jazz.
