American singer Michael Mayo was born and raised in a very musical environment: his father, Scott Mayo, played the saxophone with Earth, Wind & Fire and his mother, Valerie Pinkston, is a background singer for Diana Ross. Michael studied at Thelonious Monk Institute, where he learned from the best: Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter. He performed at the White House and at the Monterey Jazz Festival and collaborated with Jacob Collier, Kneebody, Gretchen Parlato en Becca Stevens. Recently, Mayo impressed at North Sea Jazz festival in 2022. He’s now back in the Netherlands, for a concert at LantarenVenster to conquer the hearts of jazz and soul lovers with his phenomenal voice.
