Improvised Music Company are delighted to announce that 12 Points 2017 will take place in the vibrant city of Aarhus, Denmark in association with the Aarhus Jazz Festival and JazzDanmark, as part of the 2017 Aarhus European Capital of Culture events. The concert performances will be held in the bustling live music venue, Atlas, in downtown Aarhus.
12 Points will then return to Dublin for it’s 12th birthday in 2018.
“Aarhus Jazz Festival is proud that 12 Points Festival 2017 will be a part of the 29th Aarhus Jazz Festival next July, when the city of Aarhus is appointed European Capital of Culture. The Aarhus Jazz Festival has always focused on talent and diversity in it’s programming and we are sure that 12 Points will give a boost to the music scene in Aarhus and many new connections will be made. Once again, music unites and crosses borders” – Ilse Vestergaard, Aarhus Jazz Festival
12 Points festival is programmed each year by an open-call across the continent, and over 500 young musicians have performed at 12 Points since 2007. The festival is seen as a ‘mezzanine’ for promising acts on their way to the next level in their careers. Applications to perform at this 2017 edition of the festival will open in August 2016. Information on how to apply and terms and conditions are available at the 12 Points wesite.
Denmark has consistently represented well at 12 Points with artists such as Ibrahim Electric, Girls in Airports & Foyn Trio amongst the Danish highlights performing over the years. Aarhus is also home to a great jazz festival and Improvised Music Company are delighted to present our pan-European festival, fittingly, in another designated EU Capital of Culture.
"12 Points reflects the vibrancy, creativity, and innovation across Europe today and we look forward to bringing 'Europe’s new jazz' to Aarhus in 2017." – Kenneth Killeen, Director 12 Points festival
In the meantime, the 12 Points team and the 2016 artists are gearing up for the 10th edition of the festival, which will be held from 20-23rd July in San Sebastian-Donostia, in association with the Heineken Jazzaldia festival and Donostia Kultura.
