This year, the 17th Jazztopad Festival will be held in the shadow of a pandemic. There will be no guests from the homeland of jazz, which we hope will not have an adverse effect on its quality, on the contrary will make it more homogeneous, intimate, thought-provoking, reflective and at the same time sparkling with colourful sounds.
Dominik Wania’s album entitled Lonely Shadows has been recorded for the prestigious ECM label. The Joanna Duda Trio will appear, its leader being an unconventional artist, versatile, active in many musical fields (composition, production, improvisation) and visual (installation, video-art). Resina – composer and cellist, recording for the British label Fat Cat Records, has written a new piece for the festival. There will be guests from abroad*. Petter Eldh together with Koma Saxo will lead us through the world of Swedish folk, hip-hop, classics and unharnessed improvisation. The clarinetist François Houle, known for his ambitious improvisations at the boundary of modern jazz and contemporary music, will return to the festival. We also recommend an evening with François Houle Genera Sextet and once again invite you to the Meditation Day, during which we will relax to Kit Downes’ organ improvisation. There will also be Melting Pot and accompanying events.
Tickets are available from September 30 (Wednesday) on our website: www.bilety.nfm.wroclaw.pl and at the NFM Box Office.
Come and join us!
* The artists’ appearance depends on the covid-19 pandemic situation in Poland and internationally.
