The 23rd İzmir European Jazz Festival that is organized by İzmir Foundation for Culture, Arts and Education will take place from 03 March 2016 to 19 March 2016.
The festival that has been held for 23 years will start on 03 March 2016 at Ahmed Adnan Saygun Sanat Merkezi with Ilhan Ersahin’s Istanbul Sessions. The band will play songs from their album “Istanbul Underground” that had a big impression in the jazz world scene.
Jazz lovers of İzmir will have a chance to listen to the acclaimed German pianist Markus Horn’s soundtrack for F.W. Murnau’s “Nosferatu – A Symphony of Horror” accompanied by the silent movie.
VEIN Trio feat. Oğuz Büyükberber from Switzerland, France’s rising star Agathe Jazz Quartet, two important names from Slovakia; Maria Kmetkova on harp and Pavol Bereza on guitar, Ayça Gündüz Quartet featuring Greek jazz pianist George Kontrafouris, award-winning Juan Garcia-Herreros “Snow Owl” from Austria, Florin Raducanu Jazz Balance from Romania, an outstanding guitarist and instructor Luca Costantini from Italy and an important representative of Polish Jazz, Piotr Baron Quintet will perform at the 23rd İzmir European Jazz Festival.
This year, the number of Open Events has been increased. A Lindy Hop dance workshop, a Jazz-motion stop-motion animation workshop, a poem and jazz conversation and a jazz records conversation are added to the program alongside with the traditional workshops, exhibitions and seminars that take place every year.
