The Summer Jazz Workshop will take place in Chioggia, close to Venice and on the seaside, from 22 to 29 July 2017. It is already in its 27th edition and is one of the most outstanding of its kind in Europe, a true training course held by extremely highly qualified musicians.
Veneto Jazz and The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music of New York, co-produce an eight-day workshop, as part of the Venezia Jazz Festival, in collaboration with some of the most prestigious Italian music conservatories.
The Workshop is open to students from all over the world (twenty different countries were represented in the 2015 edition) and provides a unique atmosphere, with eight days of full-time activities.
Students will have the great opportunity to study with excellent international jazz musicians and educators. The program boasts a renowned faculty: Rory Stuart, guitar – Amy London, voice – Aaron Goldberg, piano – Jeff Hirschfield, drums – John Ellis, sax – Stefano Senni, double bass.
The Workshop will include daily instrumental master classes, three different levels of theory classes, several special topics, and rehearsals. The program culminates in a series of student big band and ensemble performances.
For the first time the new international Big Band workshop will take place during the Summer Jazz Workshop. Directed by Ambrogio De Palma, it will involve all the students.
The Summer Jazz Workshop is organized by Veneto Jazz, as part of the Venezia Jazz Festival, in collaboration with Associazione Lirico Musicale Clodiense – Chioggia, Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism and the Veneto Region.
