Belgrade Youth Center / MTS Hall
Belgrade, Serbia
Belgrade Youth Center presents, from 26th to 30th October 2022, 38th Belgrade Jazz Festival with the slogan JAZZBEATS.
After celebrating 50 years since its founding and successfully overcoming two difficult pandemic years without interrupting the festival editions in 2020 and 2021, the Belgrade Jazz Festival continues to present the best modern jazz from all continents in all its glory. Under the slogan JAZZBEATS, in its 38th edition, it will host artists who push the boundaries of jazz and bring genre diversity, providing new excitement to the music style. Like a heartbeat, this music's rhythms continue to last despite everything, just like the Belgrade Jazz Festival - the oldest and internationally most renowned Serbian jazz festival.
The venues, Belgrade Youth Center and the MTS Hall will present 21 concerts within 10 programs and almost 150 musicians from all over the world, with a representative presentation of the most talented acts from the Serbian jazz scene. This year's main program will include projects by 5 Serbian artists, a record number in the event's recent history, reflecting the rise of Serbian jazz on the global stage, with constant recognition our young artists receive all over Europe and the world.
Three generations of artists will present themselves at the Belgrade Jazz Festival this year. The highlight is on young performers, who make up three-quarters of the program: since its renewal in 2005, the Festival has constantly supported the future of jazz, having in mind the educational role that cultural events should play in raising younger generations of audiences, as well as providing a support platform for young jazz artists. The program will also feature performers who currently represent the hottest names in the world of jazz, as well as several renowned artists of the older generation who have significantly influenced the development of the genre in the 21st century. This year, the Festival will pay special attention to orchestral jazz through the performances of as many as four large ensembles, giving the audience an excellent insight into the diversity of the European big bands.
Belgrade Jazz Festival is proud of its top artistic achievements, verz young jazz audience and consistency in the program concept that celebrates jazz musicians' creativity and inventive curiosity from all corners of the world.
The City of Belgrade, the founder and patron of the Belgrade Jazz Festival, included BJF in 2007 on the list of events of special cultural interest. The Festival host is the Belgrade Youth Center. Patrons of the 38th Belgrade Jazz Festival: City of Belgrade - City Authority - Secretariat for Culture; Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Serbia. Friends of the 38th Belgrade Jazz Festival: Lukoil, SOKOJ, DPC Networks. Belgrade Jazz Festival is a member of the Europe Jazz Network.
