A handful of big names will constitute the core of the programme for the 55 Heineken Jazzaldia, to take place in San Sebastian from 22-26 July 2020. Among them, the pianists Abdullah Ibrahim, Danilo Pérez, Hiromi, Kenny Barron, Danilo Rea, Rita Marcotulli and Dado Moroni; the trumpet-players Joe Magnarelli, Enrico Rava, Fabrizio Bosso and Paolo Fresu; the singers Cécile McLorin Salvant, Kurt Elling and Sharon Clark; the young drummer and composer Makaya McRaven; the bass-player Dave Holland; the multi-member Scandinavian group Fire! Orchestra and Britain’s Ezra Collective; once again, the saxophonist John Zorn with a very special project: a double proposal where the iconic Masada Quartet will be joined in the same session by its New Masada Quartet: two hours of John Zorn on the saxophone.
Regarding the more heterogeneous proposals, the Heineken Jazzaldia announces the performance of Scotland’s Simple Minds, the eternal Graham Nash, the North Americans Vintage Trouble and North Mississippi Allstars, the Jamaicans Sly & Robbie and the rising star of 2019, León Benavente. Also present will be the blues legend, Taj Mahal, for the first time in Donostia and with the incorporation of the famous musician from New Orleans, Jon Cleary.
