Flagey dedicates a one-day festival to celebrating the life and work of the iconic composer Moondog, who passed away 25 years ago. Musician, composer, poet, instrument designer also known as ‘the Viking of 6th Avenue’ – Moondog was all these things. Blind and homeless in New York, he gained international fame for his music, which blended Native American rhythms, jazz, and classical elements, laying the groundwork for minimalism.

With a program of concerts as eclectic as the man himself, Flagey welcomes both international and Belgian musicians such as the Brussels Philharmonic, pianist François Mardirossian and jazz band Ill Considered. A one-of-a-kind opportunity to discover Moondog’s work for piano, orchestra and a contemporary jazz interpretation, alongside two documentaries and an insightful conference on his life presented by renowned specialist Amaury Cornut.
