Doeks’ monthly series in Amsterdam’s De Ruimte takes off in December and will run through until May 2020. This is the fourth season of the series, which takes place on the second Friday of the month and has built up a loyal following. The night kicks off with Space is the Place ft. Doek: 2 sets of improvised music from Doek musicians and friends. This season’s performers include the Blues Lines trio ft. Wolter Wierbos, All Ellington horn section, the Kaja Draksler octet and duo Oscar Jan Hoogland/Han Bennink. Then it’s time to push aside the tables for the 2nd Stop is Jupiter: dancing to the wildest live music in town – cumbia-punk, Turkish psychfunk, Afrobeats, Caribbean kaseko – until the early hours.
