Guitar prodigy Andreas Varady, attracted by jazz music, started to play when he was just 4. Taught by his father, Bandi, he gained his first experiences as a musician from busking on the streets of Limerick and Cork, Ireland. He also attended jazz workshops in Limerick and Sligo, and later travelled to New York to study at Skidmore Jazz Institute under the scholarship from the Art Councils of Ireland.
Being 12 years old, Andreas proved his guitar skills performing on RTE’s competition “The Guitar”. Around the same time he wrote to Irish drumming star David Lyttle, introducing himself as a twelve-year-old jazz guitarist. After that Lyttle featured Andreas in his group where international players such as Andreas Oberg, Torsten Goods, Soweto Kinch and Terell Stafford were also playing. Andreas has also performed with guitar icons Louis Stewart and Tommy Emmanuel, toured in duo with Martin Taylor, and made numerous appearances on BBC and RTE television and radio.
Debut album “Questions” was made in collaboration with David Lyttle, legendary American bass guitarist Michael Janisch, and Bandi Varady – father of Andreas. It was presented at the Cork jazz festival in the October 2012. Album features original compositions and also remakes, for example, Django Reinhardt's „Festival 48”.
On March 21st he became the youngest musician to headline at London's legendary Ronnie Scott's, receiving standing ovations and four-star reviews from „The Times” and „Evening Standard”.
Album “Question” was selected as “album of the week” by “Guitarist Magazine”, and in the April 2011 Andreas received his first cover feature for the “Guitar Player Magazine”. Afterwards he performed at Festival Django Reinhardt and Noumea Jazz Festival.
In 2013 he signed the contract with world known “Quincy Jones” music Management Company. Now Andreas Varady is among those music grands - Ray Charles, Michael Jackson, Frank Sinatra, Dinah Washington, Stevie Wonder and many more - who have had the contracts with Quincy Jones!
