Join Jazz Camp for Girls, and meet like-minded girls aged 11-15, exploring jazz music and improvisation together, making up songs and experimenting, putting your own spin on classics, playing in a group and having lots of fun learning from inspiring women in jazz!
Jazz Camp for Girls is a 3-day summer camp which provides the opportunity for young female identifying musicians to experience jazz music and explore improvisation in a supportive environment. The camps are designed for musicians aged 11-15 with no or little experience of improvising, and aim to inspire them through a range of activities celebrating the work of women in the Jazz industry.
Improvised Music Company (IMC) is delighted to present the first Jazz Camp for Girls in Ireland this summer, in partnership with DCU's BA in Jazz & Contemporary Music Performance programme, and with the partner support of Fingal Arts Office.
DATES: Tue 27th to Thu 29th June 2023 (3 day camp)
TIMES: 10am-4pm daily
LOCATION: St Patrick’s campus, DCU, Dublin 9
COST: €30 for the 3 day camp. Scholarships available, please contact aoife@improvisedmusic.ie to enquire
INSTRUMENTATION: We welcome all instruments - voice, flute, sax, guitar, bass, drums and other instruments not traditionally associated with jazz such as violin, harp etc.

BACKGROUND of Jazz Camp for Girls:
Jazz Camp for Girls is an international educational programme supporting pre-teen and early teen girls in exploring improvisation and jazz music in a fun, supportive environment. It began in Denmark in 2014, with camps now running all across the country, as well as in Poland, Slovenia, UK, Sweden, Canada and Turkey!
