Jazz With was a gamble with several variables and today it’s a successful gamble.
100 applications were received - proving that this project is a response to a complex reality shared by many artists, from all corners of Europe - reminding us of the essential role of AJC and its many relays in the European landscape, and each one of them brings us back to the essential: a European jazz of great quality in which French musicians are deeply involved.
But this presence suffers from many difficulties and this is why Jazz With was created. The aim is to promote and raise the profile of these collaborations, to provide financial support and to help organize smart tours thanks to our networks. After much listening and discussions, the 3 groups selected - T.I.M, Volkmann/Jarret/Andrzejewski trio and Weave 4 - will perform at the next Rencontres AJC in front of a large audience of French and European professionals and will receive a grant of 3,000 euros and all the support they need to perform as much as possible in the next months.
We hope that this project will continue to grow and that more artists will be selected tomorrow, underlining the importance of the French scene to keep in touch with the entire
European jazz scene!
