Jazzahead! 2017 celebrates Jazz aus Finnland - and you are invited!

As most of you allready know, Jazzahead! has chosen Finland as the partner country for the 2017 edition. Finland will be visible throughout the event on 27-30 April. The Finnish EJN members - Tampere Jazz Happening, Raahe Jazz on the Beach, April Jazz, Finnish Jazz Federation, Annamaija Music Company, UMO Jazz Orchestra and Flame Jazz - along with other important movers and shakers of the Finnish jazz scene will meet their international colleagues at the trade fair on the Finnish umbrella stand no 6B40. Right next to the stand is the Partner Country Lounge, offering a relaxed atmosphere for meetings and negotiations and welcoming all the delegates.

Finland presents a perfect spot for dinner, meet & greet also in between the daytime trade fair bustle and the evening showcases. Jazz aus Finnland Food Garden, right in front of Schlachthof, will feature Finnish street food, award-winning gin & tonic from Finland - and even a sauna. And when the last showcase concerts are over, the late night clubs at Schlachthof’s Magazinkeller will be filled with the Finns and their friends both on Thursday 27 April (co-organised with XJAZZ and We Jazz) and Friday 28 April (hosted by Tampere Jazz Happening). Be sure to join in for a drink and get the party started!

The highlight of the live music programme is the Finnish Night, a jury-chosen diverse selection of the top-notch jazz from the partner country. Taking place on 27 April and running on three showcase stages, the Finnish night features these eight acts:
  • Kari Ikonen Trio
  • Raoul Björkenheim eCsTaSy
  • GOURMET
  • Tenors of Kalma
  • VIRTA
  • Verneri Pohjola Group
  • Aki Rissanen Trio
  • Dalindèo
The Finnish jazz talent will be celebrated also at the annual Gala Concert on 28 April, where pianist Iiro Rantala is the guest star of the local orchestra, Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen. On Saturday 29 April, the Clubnight will take live music to more than 30 venues all around Bremen, again putting many Finnish bands on stage at Schwankhalle, Karton & Papp and Club Moments, to name but a few.

Jazz aus Finnland - Partner Country project and Kultur aus Finnland festival are a cooperation between Messe Bremen, Music Finland and the Finnish Institute in Germany.
