jazzahead! teams up with its partners Knutpunkt c/o Göteborg Artist Center and Semente Cultural Productions from Sweden to realize the first green jazzahead! tour ever. It features the great band „Mother“ of bandleader Athina Kontou and gives them the chance to play an international tour for the first time.
The Green Pilot Tour will take place between 19th-26th of October and the group will start with a kick-off and concert during Stockholm Jazz Festival, and then continue touring the south of Sweden. During their stay Athina Kontou and her group will give concerts and workshops for music students, and attend Professional Business Meetings.
With Athina Kontou a musician is promoted that has a clear opinion on environmental issues and who is known as a climate activist in the field of jazz. In 2023 she played a much praised concert at the jazzahead! showcase festival. She works with a sustainability rider in all her concerts and engages for environmental issues as well as the sustainability of cultural exchange. With her three fellow musicians Luise Volkmann, Dominik Mahnig and Lucas Leidinger she forms a colourful and lively sound body. Their debut „Tzivaeri“ was released in August 2022 on nWog-Records and was nominated for the german Critics Award (Preis der deutschen Schalplattenkritik) and the German Jazz Award (Deutscher Jazzpreis).
