Jazzkaar 2020 Festival will take place from 9 until 15 October 2020 with an updated programme at Telliskivi Creative City and on 3 November at Alexela Concert Hall. During eight days in October and November, the jazz celebration will bring to the audience concerts of world-class musicians and highly valued local groups. There is reason to rejoice, as the main programme of Jazzkaar 2020 includes long-awaited headline performers Dee Dee Bridgewater (USA) & Estonian Dream Big Band, Dirty Loops (Sweden), Rymden feat. Bugge Wesseltoft, Dan Berglund, Magnus Öström (Norway-Sweden) and Airto Moreira & Flora Purim with Neto Band (Brazil).
Due to the state of emergency announced in Estonia and health risks posed by the coronavirus, the Jazzkaar 2020 Festival will not be held in April as initially planned. Instead, the festival will take place from 9 until 15 October at Telliskivi Creative City, whereas the the festival headliner, Dee Dee Bridgewater & Estonian Dream Big Band will perform at Alexela Concert Hall on 3 November. The concert will be brought to Estonia with the help of Viru Keskus.
Jazz lovers can rejoice, as the festival team has been be able to reschedule most of the concerts from April to the new dates in autumn. We will have world-class musicians performing at Jazzkaar 2020 Festival from 9 until 15 October, at the Christmas Jazz 2020 Festival before the holiday season and at the Jazzkaar 2021 Festival in April next year.
The Jazzkaar 2020 programme in October also includes several local favourites: the festival will be opened by Vaiko Eplik and Kristjan Randalu with their concert “Dissonances of Harmony”. Kadri Voorand, celebrating 15 years since her first performance at Jazzkaar, will bring to the listeners a special project with a string quartet, and the popular singer Liisi Koikson will celebrate 15 years since the release of her award-winning album, “Väike järv”, giving concerts with her band in Tallinn and Pärnu. Anett, who achieved great success at the Eesti Laul song contest, will perform a concert of her original music. Besides Dee Dee Bridgewater, the audience can also enjoy other foreign performers whose concerts were initially planned to take place in April: Dirty Loops, Rymden, Airto Moreira & Flora Purim as well as other musicians from Iceland, Germany, England, Austria and Romania. Tickets for the top jazz festival in autumn will be available from tomorrow, 1 April.
The programme of Christmas Jazz 2020, celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, will include Cyrille Aimée (France), Los Aurora (Spain) and Trilok Gurtu Band (India). Tickets for Christmas Jazz 2020 concerts will be also available from tomorrow, 1 April.
At the Jazzkaar 2021 Festival next spring, we can enjoy artists such as Avery * Sunshine (USA), Jamison Ross (USA), Marc Ribots Ceramic Dog (USA), El Muro Tango (Estonia-Argentina) and Naïssam Jalal – Quest of the Invisible (Syria- France). Tickets for their concerts will be available in September 2020 at the latest.
Tickets already purchased for the concerts in April will be automatically valid on new concert dates of the same artists. If you cannot attend the concert on the new date, you can return your ticket or exchange it for a Jazzkaar gift voucher from 1 until 30 April 2020. Owners of PDF tickets can inform us of their wish to return or exchange their tickets here. Regular tickets can be returned at Piletilevi sales points, except at Circle-K service stations and the information point of Viru Keskus. Festival Jazzkaar invites friends of culture to support the survival of the festival by not returning the tickets.
