ICM is pleased to announce that KAMASI WASHINGTON is seeking performance opportunities throughout Europe in August 2018.
KAMASI WASHINGTON first gained mainstream popularity for his saxophone parts that featured heavily throughout Kendrick Lamar's Grammy-winning album, To Pimp A Butterfly (2015). Along with his own 10-piece band, The Next Step, KAMASI released his groundbreaking solo album, The Epic (2015). The 172-minute, triple disc masterpiece, which includes a full string orchestra and full choir, debuted at #1 on several iTunes Jazz charts, including the US, Canada, Australia, Russia and UK. In addition to composing his own music, KAMASI is part of a West Coast musical collective called the "West Coast Get Down."
In September of this year, KAMASI released an EP titled Harmony of Difference. Originally, a contemporary art installment for the Whitney Museum, the music received such rave reviews that it was formulated into an official EP release. Below, you can find links to reviews of the EP from the likes of Pitchfork and Rolling Stone.
