Kokoroko is an band from South London consisting of eight fantastic members. The group is led by trumpeter Sheila Maurice-Grey, who brought the young band members (all from different jazz conservatories in the city) together. Kokoroko's music interweaves West African highlife/Afrobeat roots with the modern buzz of the British capital, inspired by iconic artists such as Fela Kuti, Ebo Taylor and Tony Allen. This jazz collective proves how quickly bands can currently conquer a place on the important stages.
Tonight the group will shine on Annabel's stage: of course the ultra addictive hit Abusey Junction will be featured.
