Lancaster Jazz Festival and Jazz North are teaming up to offer a free conference day for artists!

This day will take place at The Gregson Centre in Lancaster on Friday 13 September. Artists can sign up for a day of networking, panels and roundtables with sector leading musicians and organisations.

As part of the 2024 edition of their annual September event , Lancaster Jazz Festival and Jazz North are joining forces to offer an inspiring artist-led conference for musicians.

Offering vital support to artists keen to develop their careers, this day will be about creative practice, knowledge sharing and building networks.

Attendees are invited to join roundtables with sector-leading artists who will touch on topics from their own careers such as songwriting, building creative communities, touring in Europe and establishing a brand.

Artists can access 1:1 support sessions with key organisations on topics such as funding, collecting royalties, publishing, marketing and brand. Guests include Groundswell Innovation (Jane Dalton), worthwHyle Marketing (Rebecca Coughlan), PRS for Music (Dan Jones), Sentric (Lily Blakeney-Evans) and Arts Council England (David Gaffney).

Black Lives in Music will be chairing an afternoon panel session on Navigating the Political Landscape as an Artist.

Lucy Woolley, Festival Director for Lancaster Jazz Festival, says:
“We're really excited for our Inspire Artist Conference Day - creating a space in the festival where artists can talk about their work, gather knowledge and meet their peers helps build a stronger and more connected jazz community. With some fantastic speakers and topics I'm confident it will be really valuable to everyone who comes down!”

The day will take place from 11.00-17.00 at The Gregson Centre in Lancaster. It is free to attend and open to all artists at every level.

To support travel costs, Jazz North is offering a limited number of travel bursaries for artists from the north earning below National Living Wage. Artists can follow this link to apply. These will be available on a first-come-first-serve basis.
