The Moog Summer Camp is back in Venice, the workshop designed for Moog devicesand electronic synthesizers, scheduled for July7 – 10 as part of the XIII edition of theVenice Jazz Festival, the prestigious international festival of jazz and contemporary music. The 2021 edition of the workshop, historically organized by Nu Fest, the electronic sector Veneto Jazz, will be a special edition, with a  scholarship, “Big Marcello is watching you”, named for its young founder, Marcello Mormile, who prematurely passed away, and whom Veneto Jazz and the world of electronic music want to remember by supporting music and young people.

The workshop, conducted by Enrico Cosimi, one of the greatest experts in the field in Italy, is organized in 4 days of full immersion. Available for participants to use is equipment of the highest level (Moog, Arp, Roland, Korg, Arturia, Novation, Buchla, Sequential…) to explore how analog synthesis works, with synthesizers, sequencers, drum machines, polyphonic / monophonic / modular systems, hardware, virtual analog, hybrid, etc., starting with basic notions on the functioning of the oscillator-filter-amplifier, up to the subtleties of programing timbre for production and performance.

To be eligible for the scholarship, which includes free participation in the workshop and a special Prize, the fantastic Moog Subsequent 25, a powerful, compact Moog analog synth, you must write a piece of original electronic music, which will be evaluated by a special panel (details and rules).The prize is offered by Midiware, a leading company in Italy in the import and distribution of software and hardware for music production, who is a partner in the project. All participants will receive a certificate of participation from Moog and Midiware, and the software Arturia Pigments 3 12 months.

During the workshop, participants will be able to meet Adam Holzman, Miles Davis’ legendary keyboard player, who took part in the extraordinary recording of Tutuand for four years was on tour together, becoming in 1988, the artistic director of Davis’ band.  Indeed, the artist will hold a concert on July 10 (9:30pm), organized by Veneto Jazz as part of the “Miles&” project, honoring the 30th anniversary of the passing of Miles Davis (1926-1991).

The workshop and concert are to take place atCombo, the ex Convent of the Crociferi in Venicein a very picturesque space, both functional and avanguarde, where it is possible to reserve seats at discount prices.
