The International Jazz Festival “Musica sulle Bocche”, in its sixteenth edition this year, will take place in Santa Teresa Gallura from 25th to 28th August
With a programme focused on the most representative artists of the international contemporary jazz, as the American saxophonist Tim Berne, accompanied by the French guitarist Marc Ducret, the pianist Antonio Faraò and an allAmerican quartet with the saxophonist Chico Freeman, the quartet of Norwegian Nils Petter Molvaer, for many years at the top of the most innovative European jazz and incursions as usual also to other musical genres: the percussions of the hang drum of the British duo Hang Massive for the highly anticipated dawn concert at Rena Bianca beach, the Flamenco of the virtuoso Spanish guitarist Sebastián de la Estación, the Sardinian folk music and the chants of Holy Week with the Choir at Cuncordu Cheremule, the electronic music of the original and all Sardinian duo composed by Saffronkeira ed Enzo Favata.
The musical program is enriched by the screening of the film "Miles Ahead", just released in the United States and dedicated to Miles Davis' life. The evening concerts are accompanied by the visual games and special effects of Qoelet Pro.
Located in one of the most beautiful and well known natural scenarios of the Mediterranean, “Musica sulle Bocche” has immediately been characterised by the strong connection between music and landscape. The concerts will take place on beaches and among the wind sculpted granite of Gallura, near the lighthouse of Capo Testa, in the site of Cala Grande, also known as “the Moon Valley”, in the rural sanctuary of Buoncammino,
Besides, located in the typical Santa Lucia area, home of the evening concerts, will be also set up the “Musica sulle Bocche Market“, dedicated to high quality food and wine, human rights and sustainability.
Alongside the shows, the 2016 edition reinforces / enhances particularly the educational aspects. Highly significant innovation / novelty : the International Summer School of Architecture, designed with the University Department of Architecture, Design and Urbanism of Alghero on the theme : “Sounds. Landscapes. Architectures”, aimed at students and researchers for promoting research and creativity about the connection between territory, architecture and music events. The “Summer School“ will take place f rom 22 to 31 August a Santa Teresa Gallura and will include / propose workshops, lectures, multidisciplinary meetings between artists, teachers, students and inhabitants.
The workshops program is also very rich, addressed to people of all ages and entrusted to prestigious teachers : the "Live music and photography" workshop led by the Slovenian photographer Ziga Koritnik, the construction of stringed instruments with recycled materials with the guitarist and ethnomusicologist Ignazio Cadeddu, the illustration workshop “Jazz per immagini” addressed to children and curated by the Sardinian artist Toni Demuro, the landscape design workshop driven by the Romanian artist Bogdan Lupescu.
The Musica sulle Bocche Festival imagined / created and directed by the musician Enzo Favata, is organized by the Concert Association Jana Project, carried out with the support of the Autonomous Region of Sardinia, through the Public Education, Events and Cultural Heritage Department, the Tourism Department, the Town Council of Santa Teresa Gallura and Sardegna Foundation.
