Novara is listening to a long season of music with NovaraJazz and an intense calendar until Tuesday April 30, 2019. The season ends with the celebration of Unesco International Jazz Day. NovaraJazz is confirmed as the only stage in Novara for jazz, improvisation, electronic experimentation and contamination between the arts and as an aggregator of artistic realities and excellence of the territory.
On Saturday 26 January the first appointment of the new year is at ex Caserma Passalacqua with Ararat Ensemble Orchestra e Haruna Kuyateh (Haruna Kuyateh kora, voice, Michele Branzoli flute, Giovanni Lanfranchi violin, Piero Geymonat accordion, Filippo Dacarro keyboards, sinth, Marta Cametti xilophone, Fabio Dotti guitar, Enzo Orlandi double-bass, Fabrizio Buttò percussion, Elia Moretti vibraphone, percussion, Nicola Arata drums). The program for NovaraJazz live performance is divided into three parts: some passages transcribed by significant African authors, several traditional Haruna compositions learn from her family and an African Suite composed by Nicola Arata, divided into 4 different movements and dedicated to the Senegalese griot Aliou Ndiaye.
It goes on Saturday 23 February at 9 pm at Piccolo Coccia with Roots Magic (Alberto Popolla, clarinet, bass clarinet, Errico DeFabritiis, alto saxophone, Gianfranco Tedeschi, double bass, Fabrizio Spera, drums). The music of Roots Magic starts from the blues roots of the '20s and' 30s, and joins the compositions of some jazz luminaries.
On Saturday, March 16 at 9 pm at Piccolo Coccia there will be Alessandro Giachero Danse (Fulvio Sigurtà, trumpet, live electronics, Alessandro Giachero, piano, Michele Rabbia, drums, percussions). The project comes from original compositions by Alessandro Giachero, manipulated and developed by the trio. The compositional aspect is combined with improvisation by seeking and developing a unitary language in a narrative and strongly expressive development.
On Tuesday, 30 April 2019 NovaraJazz celebrates the International Jazz Day with NovaraJazz Collective at Opificio – Cucina e Bottega in Novara: Francesco Chiapperini, clarinet; Filippo Cozzi, sax; Vito Emanuele Galante, trumpet; Francesca Petrolo, trombone; Simone Lobina, guitar; Roberta Brighi, electric bass; Fabrizio Carriero, drums. They are musicians from the new Italian scene belonging from creative and improvised music scene. The result is a fresh, vital music, in the wake of modernity.
Every Thursday from 11 October 2018 to 28 March 2019 will be Taste of Jazz at Opificio – Cucina e Bottega in Novara with 21 events in which music, food and wine come together in a real blaze of senses.
NovaraJazz signs agains the Aperitivi in... Jazz program organized by Teatro Coccia for four Sundays in the morning, at 11:30 am at the Piccolo Coccia: Sonia Spinello Billie Holiday Project Trio on Sunday 27th January and Giorgia Barosso Quintet in a Chick Corea Tribute on Sunday 17th February.
