The pioneering Punkt Festival, established by musicians Jan Bang and Erik Honoré in 2005, returns in 2025 with another boundary-pushing programme of concerts, seminars, and the trademark live remixes (concerts are immediately reinterpreted by another set of musicians).
Highlights include the album release and live premiere of Nordic Music Prize winner Benedicte Maurseth’s Mirra, and a grandiose celebration of Trygve Seim’s ECM classic Different Rivers, performed by Seim and his 10-piece ensemble.
Punkt 2025 also presents the poetic splendour of Remembrance by Solveig Slettahjell / Knut Reiersrud / In the Country, and a unique double bill at the new Kunstsilo museum featuring ECM royalty Jon Balke’s Skrifum and the album release of After the Wildfire by Arve Henriksen / Jan Bang, featuring Eivind Aarset / Ingar Zach.
Other programme highlights include:
- Ghosted (Oren Ambarchi / Johan Berthling / Andreas Werliin) and MOCH (Patricia Brennan / Noel Brennan) in rhythmic explorations.
- Scottish dream pop from Mercury Prize nominee C Duncan.
- Traditional songs from Ethiopia, Armenia, Sweden and beyond, reimagined by Sofia Jernberg and Alexander Hawkins.
- Live premieres of Andrea Giordano’s Àlea and Erik Honoré’s Temporary Empire.
- Live Remixes by Jo David Meyer Lysne, Andrea Giordano / Jan Bang, Even Sigurdsen Røstad and others.
- The renowned Punkt Seminar will also this year be curated and led by David Toop, with presentations and performances by Maria Rezaei, Oren Ambarchi, crys cole, Sofia Jernberg / Alexander Hawkins, Makoto Oshiro, and Kate Carr.
