Reykjavík, Iceland - The Reykjavík Jazz Festival is thrilled to announce its 2024 edition, taking place from August 27th-September 1st. We invite you to experience six days of exceptional music, focusing on jazz and improvised music, performed by talented musicians from the United States, Europe, and Iceland.
Since its inception in 1990, the annual Reykjavík Jazz Festival has grown into an increasingly prestigious event on the international jazz scene. As the second-longest-running music festival in Iceland, it has established a reputation for showcasing a diverse array of jazz styles, from contemporary and avant-garde to Latin jazz and big bands.
The festival features performances by many acclaimed international jazz artists alongside Iceland’s leading jazz musicians. The picturesque setting of Reykjavík, with its imposing volcanoes and mountains, provides an inspiring backdrop for live jazz, making the festival a truly unique experience.
This year’s lineup includes the Reykjavík Big Band, the Sunna Gunnlaugs Quartet featuring Heidi Bayer on trumpet, the Jakob Buchanan Trio with Simon Toldam on piano and Chris Speed on saxophone, Mikael Máni with a solo concert, and Tania Giannouli from Greece with her solo piano set, among many other outstanding Icelandic and international artists.
