“3 Days of Jazz” includes seven concerts from January 22 to 24, 2016.
Saalfelden’s annual August jazz festival has garnered excellent reviews in the international jazz world. Starting in January 2016, visitors will also be able to listen to a vibrant array of bands in the winter.
From January 22 to 24, 2016, Saalfelden Leogang will start to present a smaller-scale winter jazz festival. Originally entitled “3 Days of Jazz” at its world premiere in 1978, the Saalfelden Jazz Festival has come to include 31 concerts over four days in the summer. The festival’s old name is now being revived to ring in a new era. “By staging a winter festival, Saalfelden Leogang is positioning itself as a prime cultural destination, further expanding its cultural offers,” says Mario Steidl, artistic director of “3 Days of Jazz.” Together with his wife Michaela Mayer, Steidl has used his creative talents to direct the Saalfelden Summer Jazz Festival. For quite some time, the organizers were contemplating whether to host a festival during the colder months as well. Now the time has come for hot jazz to warm the hearts of music lovers during the month of January. Saalfelden Tourism and its managing director Marco Pointner are in charge of the festival’s business administration. Cultural manager Daniela Neumayer will be the prime organizer of the festival.
The Festival programme include many highlights of European jazz including Chuffdrone, Sclavis/Pifarely/Courtois, a solo by Vincent Courtois, Nordic Duo with John Surman and Vigleik Storaas, Papanosh, Clementine Gasser & Fritz Mosshammer, Klaus Paier & Asja Valcic.
