The 46th Vossa Jazz festival is coming up soon! From the 12th to the 14th April 2019 the small town Voss in Western Norway will once host a wide range of great musicians, music lovers and innovative musical expressions. This year’s Main Commisioned Work (Tingingsverket) is made by Hedvig Mollestad, one of Norway’s most exciting guitar players. With a superb special band for the occasion, she will explore the boundaries between jazz and rock.
We are also proud to present two other commisioned works: The innovative folk-meets-jazz-meets-chamber-music-band Frode Haltli Avant Folk recieved rave reviews for their first album – we are very excited to hear new music from them!
For the other commisioned work we asked the two «mad professors» John Erik Kaada and Ståle Storløkken to make something special together. Rumor has it they will bring a lot of different instruments and electronics to Vossa Jazz, in addition to their eclectic musical minds!
Some of the other artists at Vossa Jazz is the great Salif Keita from Mali, norwegian trumpeter/composer Mathias Eick, folk-jazz contemporary saxophone player Karl Seglem, german piano virtuoso Martin Kohlstedt and the amazing Jakob Bro Quartet.
