The 47th Vossa Jazz festival is coming up soon! From the 26th to the 28th of March 2021 the small town Voss in Western Norway will once again host a wide range of great musicians, music lovers and innovative musical expressions. Last year's festival was cancelled due to Covid-19. This year we bring back many of the artists that were supposed to perform in 2020, in addition to some fresh bookings! The festival takes many measures to comply with the rules and guidelines for reducing health risks, and therefore the number of available tickets is reduced this year.
Norwegian composer and bass player Ingebrigt Håker Flaten is this years composer of the Main Comissioned Work (Tingingsverket). He has been one of the key figures in the Norwegian jazz scene since the mid 90s, and is known for his musical open mindedness and his many groups and collaborative projects.
We are also proud to present the commisioned work Sagn by Arild Andersen, a widely influencal folk-jazz exploration that was first debuted at Vossa Jazz 1990 – 31 years ago!
Some of the other artists at Vossa Jazz is the nu-jazz ensemble Jaga Jazzist, norwegian trumpeter/composer Mathias Eick, folk-jazz contemporary trumpet player Hildegunn Øieseth, prog jazz band Needlepoint and the amazing Espen Berg Trio.
